How is God Thinking About You Today?
Job 7:17 What is man, that you make so much of him, and that you set your heart on him, visit him every morning and test him every moment?
Read the context: Job 6,7
Ponder:
? Describe what you recall about the story of Job?
? What level of depression-despair is Job expressing in these two chapters?
? Can you find some verses in these two chapters where Job is critical of God? Why or why not?
jne: Job is probably the classic example of extreme suffering. I assume that if I were to ever experience the awful things that Job did I would be doubtful and angry with God. Job repeatedly expressed questions and even doubts about God, but in the midst of all these Job seemed to maintain a belief in the basic character of God. And this verse, :17 is a good illustration. Job recognizes that God cares for him. Indeed Job marvels that God "sets His heart" on mankind so very much that He even tests us with hardship.
