“BLESSED IS THE MAN...?"
Are you part of a small group of believers, followers of Jesus, Saints, who visit together (in person or online) to share together what God is teaching you through your pondering of The Bible?
From the beginning God said “It is not good for the man to be alone.” While this statement was specifically about marriage it applies to our condition as human beings. God calls His Church a “body.” He designed us to minister to and with each other. You need others and others need you.
If you have not been invited to be part of a small group pondering the Bible together, ask your church leaders to help you find one or help you start one.
The format is simple and varied. Choose a Bible text, Pray, Read and Ponder the text (in context) and share what God is saying to you through the Bible text. Be very cautious about using study guides that tell you what to think rather than helps you ask and answer questions about the Bible text itself.
God uses the Bible to instruct, encourage and challenge us as face the daily struggles of living in this hostile world.
Why does LIFE seem so elusive, so often?
Why do I (We) not, more often, talk about the "Abundant LIFE” (John 10:10) Jesus claimed to give us?
Imagine with me, Adam and Eve (I, you) are standing talking to God just before they leave the Garden of Eden.
They are confused, afraid, alive, but not ALIVE, as they used to be. Feeling swept along not knowing what to think, say or believe about either themselves or the GOD they once knew.
They vaguely recall the PERFECTION that surrounded them. They do not understand the significance of the DECEPTION they just experienced. Neither do they comprehend the RUIN that has come upon them or the RESCUE of the new clothes GOD has given them. They are uncertain about what they are BELIEVING.
GOD is thinking, but probably not telling them:
I AM going to write to you over and over again throughout your life, guiding you about the CHOICES you have faced, and will face every day in the WORLD where you live. Just as you are now challenged, you will be challenged every day to CHOOSE who and what you will BELIEVE. If you want the LIFE I can give you, you will BELIEVE and share, what I will WRITE to you in the BIBLE.
Imagine now, being in a small group of believers, Saints, who are learning to truly love and enjoy God and each other. Think about this trusted group of friends ponderting together, verbally or online, over a text of the Bible and asking God to make their lives truly blessed from God’s persepective.
Think about what God says about the way we are designed to need each other and His Word. Read Psalm 1. We live in a world of either “the wicked, sinners, scoffers.” (Like whom we formerly walked Eph 2:2) or the “Blessed.” We live in the “counsel, way, and seat” of whichever group we choose. We all know too well the “delights’ of the scoffers. But God says the “Blessed” “delight in the law (the Bible) of the LORD."
Do I, do you, want to be Blessed?
Be part of a small group of Saints that ponders the Bible together on a regular basis.
